AcreTrader, founded in 2018, is an investment company specializing in farmland that has facilitated investment in over 40,000 acres across the U.S. and Australia. Its data platform, Acres.com, provides data on over 150 million U.S. parcels and has seen triple-digit revenue growth. These companies serve clients ranging from individual accredited investors to Fortune 500 companies, institutional investment funds, lenders, and housing developers, connecting them to farmland opportunities and land intelligence.
Before joining these ventures, Garrott helped manage a large vertically integrated farm. During his time in farming and at these companies, he identified a consistent problem: moving products to and from rural areas is unnecessarily difficult and expensive. While farming technology has advanced in many ways, logistics still relies on outdated methods involving paper, phone calls, and headaches. This insight led Garrott to co-found Aerton, aiming to solve these everyday logistics challenges that waste time and reduce profits for farms and rural businesses.
Richard Hohen built deep logistics expertise during his time founding and growing FreightWise, a logistics technology company that helps businesses optimize their supply chains and reduce shipping costs—achieving remarkable growth of 733% from 2019 to 2021. At FreightWise, he developed practical shipping solutions that saved major companies millions in transportation costs and specialized in streamlining complex logistics operations across multiple industries. The company provides a cloud-based Transportation Management System (TMS) and services to major distirbutors in Oil & Gas, Restaurant Supplies, and heavey equipment manufacturing.
After years of optimizing freight management for large enterprises, Richard recognized that the same powerful tools could be adapted to solve the unique challenges faced by agricultural businesses. He saw firsthand how the best logistics technology rarely made it to rural areas while helping companies like his oil and gas customers. Richard co-founded Aerton to bring his logistics expertise to the agricultural sector, creating systems that work just as effectively on county roads as they do on interstate highways.
